SCRATCHING A BROKEN RECORD
(2015) Documentary Film
Directed by Jelena Mitrovic
SABD is a deep portrait into the subversive music scene of the war-torn former Yugoslavia. A host of some of Serbia's most historic performers including Hornsman Coyote's Nemanja Kojic, Eurovision's Bebi Dol, and Crni Biseri's Vlada Džet share how their rise to stardom was met with resisitance, and how their big-city dreams we opaqued my war crime nightmares. Through their unique journey, we learn how an oppressive political regime pushed even the most creative, free spirited artists into an abyss of regret- prompting an escape to create heartfelt hymns people would rarely hear.
INSIDE THESE WALLS
(2012) Photo Book | Photojournalism
Written by Mackenzie Reiss
Produced by SimplyTerrance Productions
Deep in the heart of europe lies Kosovo, a young country who saught independance from the former Yugoslavia after years of warefare and genocide. One would expect to find subjects to be cold and untrusting; turned bitter from their violent surroundings- but Mackenzie Reiss found the much more.
A series of vulnerable stories and photographs frame the plight of the disenfranchised in Jetimorija, an abandoned school building-turned dwelling. Today, Jetimorija is home to 28 families, and within its walls- it houses thousands of stories
"If you have a dream, don’t just sit there. Gather courage to believe that you can succeed and leave no stone unturned to make it a reality.”
"By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest;
Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience,
which is the bitterest."
